Sequencing 301
Welcome to Sequencing Lab 301! By now, you have successfully created your own LYT flow at the Beginner, Advanced Beginner, or Level 1 level. You should feel relatively comfortable with how the process works at the most basic level and what it takes to properly sequence asanas together with a plan and an intention set at the start. In this third and final portion of the Sequencing Lab Series, you will learn how to create and teach Level 2 and Level 3 flows and, finally, how to teach and incorporate more advanced poses in these higher-level classes. While you will follow the same methodology as in Sequencing Labs 101 & 201, you will learn to broaden your horizons to cater to the more advanced-level yoga population. Â
At her original home studio in Princeton, NJ, Lara initially had just 3 types of classes that straddled the line between levels. Smooth was Level 1–2, which meant optional handstands and no plyometrics. Move was Level 2–3, where plyometrics and handstands were offered more regularly. Lastly, Groove was Level 3, which featured plyometrics and more time on the hands and where the teacher took the class along with the students instead of walking around the room strictly teaching. For the purposes of our Sequencing Lab Series, I created Level 1 to be Basic Smooth. Level 2 will straddle the line between Smooth and Move, and Level 3 will correspond to Groove. At the end of this final module, you will be able to:
- Create a Level 2 flow for the Intermediate LYT students, who are ready for the addition of optional handstands and plyometrics in their practice
- Create a Level 3 flow for the Advanced LYT students, who are ready to practice independent of adjustments alongside the teacher
- Learn how to change a flow just slightly to adjust the theme or level
- Learn how to do and teach a variety of advanced arm and leg balance poses that can be added to your Level 2 and 3 flows at your own discretion at this higher level of practice
Additionally:
- You will receive 3 new LYT flows that you will have a thorough understanding of and that you will be able to add to your LYT repertoireÂ
- Any follow-up questions will be answered via the monthly Teacher Community Zoom
